Memories of UKIWS 2016

It doesn’t seem like two minutes since we were all at UKIWS 2016. So sorry this post is late – as soon as we got back from the event, ‘normal’ life took over!

cover-squareThe hard work in the run up to the event, the stresses and strains of creating the UK’s first woodturning symposium, getting sponsors for the event and managing to fund it all!  The pre-opening nerves.  All worth it!  What a fabulous weekend.

In fact, it was such a success that we’re going to do it all over again in 2017. If you’re not on the mailing list already, use the form on this page to join it now and get special discounts for booking entry early!

The venue was superb and the hotel were only too happy to help us.  The traders and the customers all had a great time and the atmosphere was wonderful. We are incredibly grateful for the support we received through social media and posters put up in clubs and shops and the amazing word-of-mouth too.

Here are some photo’s of the event to remind you of UKIWS 2016.  I’m sure, like me, these will bring back some great memories. Here’s a gallery of just some of the photos taken and shared on Facebook.

Right from the start of the event, the amount of people coming through the doors was amazing!  Everyone had a great time, the trade stands were busy and people were chatting animatedly about what they had seen and bought.  This inevitably spilled over into the bar area and wherever you looked, there were people carrying wood and tools.  People were sat over a coffee or a beer, sharing stories and advising others no the best way to approach a particular wood or project.

Then, suddenly, after 2 days, it was all over!  The symposium was a resounding success!  Time for a quick bit of refreshment then down to the hard work of packing it all down and cleaning up all the wood shavings!

Thanks to everyone for making the event the success it was.  For those of you that could not make it this year, watch this space for the all new UKIWS 2017, it will be upon us before we know it!
