Joe Creed-Kaile is an up and coming young turner with a bright future ahead of him, and we are delighted to be hosting him for his first public demonstration on Saturday 18th June.
My demonstration will cover hollowing techniques using a spindle gouge rather than the modern hollowing arms. I will be produce a square hollow form with even openings on each face using either cherry or sycamore wood.
Joe was introduced to turning by his Grandfather a couple of ago and in August 2014 he attended his first Youth Training weekend organised by A.W.G.B. and he was hooked.
My first lathe was purchased for my 15th birthday and after just a few months I moved up to a variable speed from Axminster. This allowed me to be more adventurous and from trying different styles, I decided that the hollow forms are the pieces I enjoyed producing the most.
Being only 16, I am honoured to be given the chance of demonstrating at the first (of many hopefully) UKIWS and hope in the future it will help me to path out a career using the hobby we all enjoy so much.
Make sure you don’t miss Joe’s demonstration at 1pm on Saturday 18th June and give this young man plenty of support.
