Almost Time – Final Video Update

With UKIWS just around the corner, here is the final video update from Martin. It shares some disappointing news regarding Robert O’Connor and the Spirit of Turning Competition, but also shares some brilliant news about the demonstrations as well as the raffle and the People’s Choice Award.

Robert O’Connor’s demonstrations, unfortunately have had to be cancelled. We tried everything to keep his demos at the event, but in the end, we had no choice other than to cancel. Everyone who had booked onto Robert’s demonstrations has been contacted via email and offered a swap onto Phil Greenwood’s Master Class at 12:30 on Sunday 19th, or a full refund. If you were booked onto Robert’s Master Class, please check your emails and respond as soon as possible.

Also, the Spirit of Turning Competition has had to be scaled down to just the People’s Choice Award due to lack of entries. A total of 6 entries were received for a competition worth well over £1000.00 in prizes and we felt that this did not constitute a fair or broad enough playing field.

But, if you did enter, there is all to place for in the People’s Choice award! You can vote for your favorite piece by clicking here…

The winner of the People’s Choice Award takes away a £60 Oliver’s Woodturning Gift Voucher, a set ofThree Carbide Turning Tools donated by Glenn Teagle and £50.00 of woodturning blanks donated by ISCA Woodcrafts in Wales. Votes close at 9pm on 17th June with the winner being announced at approx 5pm on Saturday 18th June at the event and on Facebook shortly afterwards.

YuvalIn other news, it is with great pleasure that we can tell you that well known YouTuber Yuval Lahav will be demonstrating in place of Robert O’Connor on Saturday 19th. There are details about his demonstration here.

This is a surprise, as no-one thought Yuval could make it to UKIWS at all, so it will be wonderful to meet him as well as watch him demonstrate.

And the raffle is getting bigger too! Here is the list of prizes we have had generously donated!

(Prize list accurate at the time of going to print. Where prizes are listed as 2x, there will be ONE available in each raffle)

There will be a separate post about the raffle soon.

pensAlso, Walter Hall and Ron Caddy will be demonstrating pen turning on the Taylor’s Mirfield stand, which is another great addition to the event.

To have both of these well known turners demonstrating for us is brilliant, and we are very grateful for their time

There’s just one thing left to say….
