We are delighted to be welcoming Berkshire based Dalmann Limited and their exotic hardwoods from Mozambique as a new sponsor for UKIWS 2016.
There will now be an even bigger collection of woods available for you at UKIWS, and we very much look forward to welcoming this exciting and growing company to the event in June.
Dalmann Limited was established in West Berkshire in early 2014 for the purpose of importing exotic hardwood products from Mozambique, more specifically woodturning blanks and rustic slabs.
All of their products are supplied by TCT Dalmann in Mozambique, a company which has been in operation since 1989.
The company’s 25,000 hectare timber concession has been from the outset, run on sound and responsible environmental principles with a high emphasis on resource sustainability and preservation, as well as the socioeconomic uplift of local communities.
Meg Coates-Palgrave, a renowned Southern Africa botanist, has assisted Dalmann in identifying 261 different species on the concession. Currently they only stock fifteen of these species as turning woods, but through ongoing testing and experimentation by local turners, it is hoped to increase this to 20 species.
The current range of timbers varies in colour, grain, texture and density. From the darker, denser timbers like African Blackwood and Leadwood, to the lighter less dense Wild Mango and Umbila which meets the needs of the most discerning craftsman.
Being an import and wholesale operation, Dalmann distribute their products through an increasing number of retail outlets who serve the woodturning fraternity throughout the United Kingdom and Europe and do not sell directly to the public.
