Originally from Wales and studying at the Chelsea College of Art, Matt Jones now lives and works in Ireland. After moving there in 2005 and renivating an outbuilding into the family home, he started woodturning full time in 2009.
It’s brilliant to be welcoming Matt at UKIWS and we’re looking forward to both his Master Class and public demonstrations where he will show how to make two beautiful yet practical items.

Matt’s Master Class – Crushgrind Peppermill
In the demo, Matt will cover the tools and techniques required which are very accessible for beginners and more experienced turners alike.
Most importantly, Matt will demystify the Crushgrind mechanism which many turners struggle with.
Matt’s Master Class will take place at 3pm on Saturday 18th June and will last up to two hours.
Public Demonstration – Baby Rattle, with a Difference!
In this demonstration, he’ll show how he turns the walls down to just three millimetres, fill them dried peas and then finishes them off with natural carnauba wax.
To see this demo, make sure you have booked tickets for Sunday 19th June and are in the venue for the start at 11:30am.
Public demonstrations are included in the entry ticket price. Click here to book your entry now.
